Wen-Chan Tsai is Professor of Internal Medicine and Director of Research Ethics at Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. He has also been serving as an attending physician in the Department of Rheumatology, Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital since 1992. He is presently the Chair of the Financial Committee at APLAR. Prior to his current appointment, he was Director of Laboratory Medicine, Director of Center for Clinical Trials and Chief of Rheumatology at the Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital.
He obtained his MD from the School of Medicine, Kaohsiung Medical University and went on to complete his PhD from the Institute of Medical Research at Kaohsiung Medical University in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He qualified as a specialist in internal medicine in 1989 and as a specialist in rheumatology in 1991. In 1996, Professor Tsai spent a year in the Department of Rheumatology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA, as a postdoctoral fellow.
Active in various professional societies, Professor Tsai is the immediate past President of the Taiwan Rheumatology Association and previously served as the Deputy secretary general and Secretary general of APLAR.
