Dr. Tanya Major is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand. During her undergraduate studies she discovered her love of human genetics and social anthropology, receiving a double-degree in genetics and anthropology in 2011. Her passion for these subjects motivated her PhD research, which used both qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate the genetic and dietary influences of patient experiences of gout in New Zealand. Her current research continues in the field of gout, building on the success of her PhD to research the genetic, dietary, and environmental factors involved in the onset and progression of gout. Tanya aims to use her research to improve gout treatment and quality of life for gout patients.
