Getting around Kyoto

Often referred to as the 30 minute city, Kyoto has city subway lines as well as a large bus network allowing you to travel around the city with ease.

There are two subway lines: north-south and east-west with travel end-end taking a total of 25 minutes. All Subway stops are marked in English, Chinese and Korean as well as Japanese.

Bus stops are named and labelled with a detailed map available which is easily followed. Bus destinations are announced in English.

Taxis are also plentiful with Taxi stands scattered around the city or easily hailed from anywhere. Licensed tour guide drivers are also available.
